What is hybrid flooring?
Hybrid flooring combines a rigid, waterproof core with a printed timber- or stone-look layer and a protective wear layer, usually with an attached acoustic underlay. It clicks together and floats over the subfloor.
- SPC (stone plastic composite) core — dense and rigid; the most common type, very stable and dent-resistant.
- WPC (wood plastic composite) core — slightly softer and warmer underfoot, and a bit quieter.
“Hybrid timber flooring” and “SPC hybrid” are both names for the same product family. The wear layer thickness and plank thickness drive most of the price difference between budget and premium ranges.
